In the Tuamotu Islands, the art of making shell necklaces is more than just a skill. It’s a way of life, a heritage, and a silent prayer to nature.

Worthy of haute couture, this ancestral art is a veritable ode to patience, beauty, and transmission. It is 100% a product of the sea and the rich land of the Tuamotus.

The māmā of the Tuamotus, the guardians of this tradition, create works of exceptional finesse.

Then comes the sacred moment of braiding, stringing, and assembling when the expert hands of the māmā dance with white coconut palm fibers, shells, and pearls. Every movement is precise, every detail meticulous, and every piece is unique. Time seems suspended, and in this inhabited silence, a piece is brought to life.

It’s an art handed down from generation to generation.

It’s a lesson in patience, a tribute to nature, and living proof that beauty is born of harmony between humans and their environment.

👉 The shells are carefully harvested, sorted, and traditionally pierced—gestures that are repeated and handed down from their elders.

The PUPU shells and pearls are lovingly prepared and await transformation into necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, pots, vases, table mats, and hats—the fruits of meticulous craftsmanship.
